Cochin Carnival

Inspired by the UN International Year of youth the Cochin Carnival has been nurtured on the centuries old legacy of celebrating the New Year in Fort Cochin. The three original UN slogans of the youth year, Peace. Participation. Progress. and the two local slogans Environment and Adventure still find resonance in every throb of the festival.

India is a land of festivals. Unfortunately our festivals are sectarian in nature. Participative secular festivals have yet to emerge. Over the past nearly four decades, the carnival has become a platform for all sections of this unique multi ethnic heritage town to come together annually and participate in this secular festival as people.

Date

The carnival starts off on December 11, 2022.
